Brown’s Resolution Deeming ‘AED Awareness Week in Pennsylvania’ Approved by House

HARRISBURG – In an effort to raise awareness about the positive and life-saving benefits automatic external defibrillators (AEDs) can provide, Rep. Rosemary M. Brown (R-Monroe/Pike) sponsored House Resolution 104, establishing Feb. 22-28, as “AED Awareness Week in Pennsylvania.” Brown organized an AED training seminar at the Capitol earlier today run by John and Rachel Moyer, before her resolution was unanimously passed by the House.

House Labor and Industry Committee to Vote on Bill to Provide Job Skills to Disabled Students

WHAT: Rep. Mauree Gingrich (R-Lebanon), chairman of the House Labor and Industry Committee, will hold a voting meeting on her bill to provide work experience to disabled high school students that will lead to workforce readiness. House Bill 400 would help to ensure that students with disabilities have the opportunity to receive training in school that will prepare them to enter the workforce upon graduation. Gingrich’s committee will also consider House Bill 638, which would amend the Pennsylvania Construction Code Act to permit greater flexibility with regard to certificates of occupancy.

Baker’s Hepatitis C Screening Bill Gains House Approval

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania House of Representatives this week approved House Bill 59 authored by Rep. Matt Baker (R-Tioga/Bradford/Potter), chairman of the House Health Committee, that would require physicians to offer hepatitis C screening to patients born between 1945 and 1965.

PA House Passes Eileen’s Law Bill Sponsored by Gillen

HARRISBURG – The state House today in Harrisburg approved legislation known as “Eileen’s Law” that was introduced by Rep. Mark Gillen (R-Berks/Lancaster) following a local tragedy. The bill became part of a comprehensive effort to review and improve truancy policies and laws in Pennsylvania.
