Stender Supports 2026-27 Pennsylvania Budget
July 12, 2026
HARRISBURG – Rep. Michael Stender (R-Montour/Northumberland) released the following statement after voting in support of the state’s 2026-27 fiscal year budget, which will spend $50.8 billion.
“I voted ‘yes’ for Pennsylvania’s 2026-27 budget. This is not a perfect budget, but it is a budget that is a fair deal for the people of the Commonwealth.
“Crucially, this budget does not take any money out of our Rainy Day Fund. This will ensure that our fiscal situation stays secure and that we will have money available if a major statewide emergency occurs.
“There is also record funding for our public schools, which will help our districts better support their students and teachers. There is also additional funding included for career and technical education centers to address increased interest in those programs by students.
“Within the fiscal code of this budget, is language from an amendment I proposed regarding food processing residuals (FPR). My language was used as the starting point and the result was negotiated to create the best possible outcome for Pennsylvanians. The final language ensures that a permit is now needed to spread FPRs on farmland, protecting our communities from the harmful smells FRPs bring.
“Overall, this is a budget that provides a lot of wins for Pennsylvanians, which is why I voted ‘yes’ on final passage to send it to the governor’s desk.”
