HARRISBURG – Rep. Stephen Bloom (R-Cumberland) issued the following statement today in response to Gov. Tom Wolf’s 2015-16 budget proposal:
“If you think our state government really deserves a big, fat 16 percent raise on the backs of our hard-working taxpayers then you’ll like Governor Wolf’s budget. But if, like most taxpayers I talk with, you think government needs to live within its means, then we have lots of hard work ahead of us to bring the governor’s massive tax-and-spend plan back down to earth.
“The governor is pushing for a 21 percent income tax hike, a 10 percent sales tax hike, and a new Pennsylvania energy tax. But I’m not seeing him propose any serious effort to hold the line on spending. He’s promising some modest property tax relief, but I can’t help being skeptical when the rest of his budget is all about taxing more, borrowing more and spending more. That’s a recipe for crushing our taxpayers and killing jobs.”
