HARRISBURG – Rep. Fred Keller (R-85) issued the following statement in response to the Governor’s budget address and proposal:
“The Governor’s proposed General Fund budget would spend approximately $33.8 billion, which would include $4.7 billion in new taxes. Under the Governor’s proposal, the Personal Income Tax would be increased 20.5%, and the Sales & Use tax rate would rise 10% with the tax base broadened by eliminating 45 Sales & Use tax exemptions.”
“The only thing left out of the Governor’s budget proposal was a change in the state motto. PennDOT will soon be ordered to replace the signs at the state border to read ‘Welcome to Pennsylvania, we’ve got a tax for you!’”
“While the Governor and I share a vision for a better Pennsylvania, my vision does not take Pennsylvania down a road paved on the backs of hard working families.
