HARRISBURG – Rep. Bryan Cutler (R-Peach Bottom) is encouraging small businesses that are looking to conserve energy to submit applications for the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP) Small Business Advantage Grant Program.
“A line-item veto of the state budget would have helped to avoid the disruption felt by businesses that were seeking these grants during the past month, but I am thankful that the program is now open and benefitting small businesses in the Commonwealth,” Cutler said. “Our small businesses truly drive the local economy, and this is a great opportunity for them to make improvements that will enable them to stay in business for the long haul.”
Under the program, businesses can apply for a 50 percent matching grant of up to $9,500 for saving at least 25 percent annually in energy or pollution-related costs. To be eligible, an applicant must be a for-profit corporation, LLC, partnership, sole proprietorship or other legal entity with no more than 100 full-time employees. The entity must be a separate legal business and located within the state at the time the application is submitted.
Applicants are encouraged to submit completed applications in a timely fashion as awards will be made until funding is depleted.
Applications are being accepted now for this program.
Since its inception in 2004, the Small Business Advantage Grant Program has awarded nearly $9.5 million to 1,915 small businesses across Pennsylvania.
Applications must be mailed to the Department of Environmental Protection, Grants Center, P.O. Box 8776, Harrisburg, PA 17105-8776.
