HARRISBURG – State Rep. David Maloney (R-Berks) today voted in favor of emergency state funding legislation desperately needed by our school children and the least fortunate in our society. The legislation, Senate Bills 1000 and 1001, would provide four months of funding for government operations applied retroactively to the beginning of the fiscal year July 1 through Oct. 31. These measures, which would have released $11 billion in state and more than $24 billion in federal funds, were immediately vetoed by Gov. Tom Wolf.
Maloney issued the following statement:
“Gov. Wolf has brought the status quo of Washington, D.C.’s dysfunctional budget gimmicks to Harrisburg and the result has been our schools in danger of closing their doors, government leaning ever more heavily on property owners and vital human services being denied to the most vulnerable in our communities. The governor is not being honest or transparent - instead of introducing his massive tax hikes as legislation to be examined in the sunlight of open debate, he wants a shady backroom deal out of view of the people.”
