Rader Issues Statement on Governor Wolf’s Budget Proposal
HARRISBURG – Rep. Jack Rader Jr. (R-Monroe) issued a statement today after the unveiling of Gov. Tom Wolf’s budget proposal for the 2015-16 fiscal year. The budget includes spending of $33.8 billion, representing an increase in spending of 16 percent over this fiscal year. In his statement, Rader said:
“As it does every year, the governor’s budget address serves as a starting point for negotiations between his office, the House and the Senate. I look forward to participating in the discussion in the months ahead and to crafting a budget which makes sense for the Commonwealth’s taxpayers and for our state’s economic future.
“I do have significant concern regarding the proposed income and sales tax increases included in the governor’s budget plan. These are increases that working families just cannot afford. I appreciate the governor’s attention to the property tax issues which plague our area of the state, although I do look forward to review his proposal in more details to see if it would provide real relief for Monroe County families.
“This is the first budget address I have attended as a member of the House. I look forward to, for the first time, working with my colleagues on a responsible budget plan for the people of the 176th Legislative District and the citizens of our Commonwealth.”
