Brown Recognizes Delaware Water Gap’s 50th Anniversary on House Floor
HARRISBURG – On Monday, Rep. Rosemary M. Brown (R-Monroe/Pike) spoke on the House floor, recognizing the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area for celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
The Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area was established by Congress in 1965. Nearly five million visitors enjoy the recreational opportunities provided by the national park, which consists of more than 160 miles of scenic touring roads and 176 miles of trails.
“The Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area has a significant role in the 189th District and across the Commonwealth,” Brown said. “People come from all over to take part in recreational activities, including hiking, hunting, horseback riding, camping, kayaking and wildlife viewing in the recreational area, and I’m proud to represent a portion of that area in the state House of Representatives.”
Brown welcomed Superintendent John Donahue, Chief of Interpretation Carla Beasley, Management Assistant Johnny Carawan, Ecologist Richard Evans, Supervisory Park Ranger Kristin Gibbs, Archeological Technician Sharon Kranch and Deputy Superintendent William Leonard to the House during her floor remarks on Monday, and thanked them for their commitment to the park.
Brown also presented a House citation in honor of the 50th anniversary. Video of Brown’s floor remarks are available at www.YouTube.com/RepBrown.
