Staats Urges Governor to Sign Emergency State Funding Bill
9/24/2015
HARRISBURG- Rep. Craig Staats (R-Bucks) joined his colleagues today in an attempt to release critical funds to human service agencies, schools and veterans service organizations by voting on an emergency state funding bill that would provide four months of state aid retroactively from July 1 through Oct. 31.

“I am asking Gov. Tom Wolf to seriously consider signing this funding bill. The Legislature has tried several times to provide necessary funds to our most vulnerable citizens, and their situation is becoming more urgent by the day. The state is still collecting taxes, and it is up to the governor to release the tax dollars to the agencies and schools that need it. It is our duty to negotiate a responsible budget for all Pennsylvanians, and this measure will allow important human service and school operations to remain intact while budget negotiations continue.”

The emergency state funding bill would also allow $24.3 billion in federal dollars to be released to their intended recipients. PHEAA grants and county child welfare funding would be released at 50 percent.
