House ERE Committee Taking Action to Shield Land Owners, Military Installations Against Wind and Solar Liabilities
WHAT: PA House Environmental Resources and Energy (ERE) Committee Majority Chairman Daryl Metcalfe (R-Butler) will convene a voting meeting to advance legislation seeking to protect landowners, high-valued farmlands and military installations against long-term liabilities associated with wind and solar development.
House Bill 2104, sponsored by Rep. Kathy Rapp (R-Warren/Crawford/Forest), would assure the proper bonding and reclamation of lands leased to solar and wind energy facilities.
House Bill 2367, sponsored by Rep. Zach Mako (R-Lehigh/Northampton), would require the Department of Environmental Protection to prohibit the construction or installation of wind turbines that negatively affect military installations and the operation of aircraft surrounding those installations.
