House Labor and Industry Committee to Hold Two Hearings Thursday about Unemployment Compensation and State Workers’ Insurance Fund
WHAT: Two House Labor and Industry Committee hearings on Thursday to gather information related to two separate topics. The morning hearing will enable the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry to provide an update related to unemployment compensation issues, including efforts to combat ongoing unemployment compensation fraud, advancements with the implementation of the new benefits modernization system and a progress report related to the backlog in processing fraud reports and making regular claim determinations. The afternoon meeting will enable the department to present its requests for changes to the State Workers’ Insurance Fund and its statutory investment authority.
