House Committee Meeting Wednesday to Evaluate Why Unemployment Compensation System Failed So Many Pennsylvanians During COVID-19
WHAT: With so many Pennsylvanians applying for Unemployment Compensation benefits during the COVID-19 pandemic and some of them still waiting to receive answers, the House Labor and Industry Committee will host a virtual informational meeting to identify reasons behind the system’s failure at the time applicants and their families needed it to work.
WHO: House Labor and Industry Committee Chairman Jim Cox (R-Berks/Lancaster); other members of the committee; W. Gerard Oleksiak, secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry (L&I); Robert O’Brien, executive deputy secretary for administration at L&I; William Trusky, deputy secretary for unemployment compensation programs at L&I; Keith Welks, deputy treasurer for fiscal operations at the Pennsylvania Office of the State Treasurer; and Carl Hammersburg, manager of government and health care risk and fraud at SAS.
